About Us

Outstanding nonprofits have one thing in common: outstanding people.

Our Vision

A prosperous region strengthened and sustained through legacy giving.

Our Mission

To inspire multi-generational generosity in the South Sound by educating and connecting nonprofits and allied professionals, and by encouraging community members to include philanthropy in their estate plans.

The principal purposes of SSPGC are:

  • Communicate

To provide a forum for communication, learning, and education; to be a trusted resource and clearinghouse for the wealth of information about planned giving, the issues, and new ideas.

  • Advocate

To create and further the awareness of new, pending, and potential regulatory and legislative issues affecting the nonprofit sector.

  • Educate

To advance the education and professional expertise of all SSPGC members.

  • Instigate

To encourage, reinforce, and instigate inter-disciplinary interaction of planned giving and members of the Allied Professions (law, accounting, investment, trusts, etc.).

President’s Message

The South Sound Planned Giving Council (SSPGC) is a professional association for those whose work includes developing, marketing, and administrating charitable planned gifts in Pierce, Thurston, Mason, and Kitsap counties.  Our members include more than 150 nonprofit professionals, estate planning and tax attorneys, accountants, bank trust officers, financial advisors, and consultants.

We completed a Strategic Plan in 2023, and this year, we are implementing many of the ideas and internally sustainable structures we defined. We want to be here for the long run, helping more generations of professionals assist their clients and donors to leave an impact on their communities through their giving. We are continuing to spread the message of the Leave 10 initiative. What a profound and simple mission; what if everyone aspired to leave 10% of their estate to their favorite (ideally local) nonprofits? Our monthly meetings will tell you more about Leave 10 and the many creative, informative, and educational programs we offer.

We are a proud member council of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners  (NACGP, formerly NCPG and PPP) and ascribe to its Code of Ethics. As a member of SSPGC, you receive reciprocity membership benefits from our sister council, the Washington Planned Giving Council (WPGC).

SSPGC offers our membership and community educational programs featuring local, regional, and national speakers presenting topics relevant to charitable gift planning.  We have developed a cadence of in-person lunch meetings one month, followed by a Zoom meeting the next. Please check our events calendar for details.

If you’re a member, thank you! We are so glad you are involved. Your voice is important to us, as is your presence. Please consider volunteering for a committee as a great way to meet, network, and help move the organization forward. If you are interested in being on the board at some point, let us know that as well.

We truly appreciate you joining us! Also, as a member, you can access a password-protected member page on our website. Visit here for a directory of your fellow members and other pertinent information.  And if you’re not yet a member, we hope you will consider joining us.
