Robert L (Bob) Mahon is a Partner with Perkins-Coie in their Seattle Office and his specialty is Washington State Tax Law. Bob is chair of the firm’s Tax practice area and he focuses on helping clients minimize and comply with state and local taxes. He joined the American Bar Associations Tax Section, State and Local Tax Committee in 1996 and has been the Editor-in-Chief of the ABA’s Sales & Use Tax Deskbook, ever since. That Deskbook is the source everyone goes to for definitive answers.
Bob will report on what is happening with Washington’s Capital Gains Tax and the lawsuit against its implementation, as well as other things bubbling up in Olympia and around the State. We are lucky to have his knowledge and experience available for sharing on Wednesday November 17th at Noon.
As gift planners, we know that tax considerations generally enter the picture AFTER a donor or client has decided they want to do something with a nonprofit. While seldom the REASON the gift is made, being familiar with and knowing something about taxes opens informational and advising doors for you.
Knowing how business interests and Sales and Use Taxes affect profits may mean the difference in suggesting a gift that has the potential to minimize a tax hit and benefit the donor’s business, heirs, and a nonprofit at the same time.
Plan to join us as Bob Mahon gets us up to speed on Washington State updates. Whether you are a Legal, Tax, Investment, or Nonproift Gift Planner – this will help you see the bigger picture while offering the opportunity to get the straight scoop from an expert in Washington Tax Law.
